One Child. One Hour. A Lifetime of Difference.

Give a little time, get a lot in return.

It only takes a few hours a month to make a huge diffference in the life of a child.

Mentoring helps kids stay off drugs, out of gangs and in school. Mentors help kids think BIG so they can fulfill their dreams. The best part is, you’ll not only see what it does for them, you’ll feel what it does for YOU.

Mission:

In partnership with TISD staff and faculty, Wildcat Mentors, through development of one-on-one relationships, will support efforts to empower students to make positive choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential.

Vision:
Temple ISD Wildcat Mentoring Program envisions a community in which every student has the opportunity to experience positive one-on-one relationships and community support. This, in turn, will empower them to reach their full potential, capable of making informed, responsible decisions as involved members of our community.

Goals:
As part of our mission to support the efforts of District staff and administration, the Wildcat Mentoring Program has adopted three goals and three measurable performance outcomes from the TISD District Improvement Plan. They are:

Goal #1: Support TISD in Providing Kid-Friendly, Clean & Safe Schools
Measurable Outcome: Reduce disciplinary referrals of students in mentoring program by 10% annually.

Goal #2: Provide Opportunities for All Students to Succeed & Belong
Measurable Outcome: Improve attendance of students in mentoring program by 1% annually.

Goal #3: Provide Collaboration & Communication
Measurable Outcome: Each Senior Leadership Team and TISD Board Member will mentor one at-risk student.

Program Strategies:
In order to achieve our goals, we will employ the following strategies:
  • Provide students with positive role models, mentors and friends sensitive to their problems and needs.
  • Afford students the benefits of special, regular and consistent contact with trusted adults.
  • Increase exposure to a variety of social, educational, cultural and other enrichment activities.
  • Emphasize the value of learning and provide academic support.
  • Encourage educational and vocational exploration and provide information about opportunities in higher education.
  • Improve motivation and achievement regarding school, work and future.
  • Provide appropriate reinforcement and support regarding student’s accomplishments and decisions.
